PRCDC

MANDATE

The Prescott-Russell Community Development Corporation supports local economic development in the United Counties of Prescott and Russell. A professional team offers services in the following four areas:

  1. Providing businesses with technical and financial support.
  2. Supporting community initiatives and projects.
  3. Supporting training development and access.
  4. Promoting local economic development.

 

MISSION

The main goal of PRCDC’s community initiatives is to maintain and create employment. Via an investment fund, the PRCDC offers last-resort funding to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the form of loans, loan guarantees and equity. We support and encourage all initiatives that help to create and promote employment.

The PRCDC’s goals are as follows:

  • Stimulating job creation by supporting existing companies and developing new ones.
  • Fostering entrepreneurship in Prescott-Russell.
  • Promoting the development of employment, education and training.

COACHING

Up to 10 hours of coaching may be available for eligible francophone/bilingual businesses. Our professional coaches can help you acquire the knowledge and expertise you need to build a flourishing business by providing essential tools and advice, as well as access to funding sources.

Coaching resources may focus on:

  1. Financial management for francophone/bilingual businesswomen 
  2. Human resources for francophone/bilingual businesswomen
  3. Overseeing change in francophone/bilingual small businesses
  4. Sales and marketing for francophone/bilingual businesswomen
  5. Strategic planning for francophone/bilingual businesswomen

MENTORING

A mentor may be provided to support and to encourage francophone/bilingual women entrepreneurs to remain focused on day-to-day activities that are essential to business success.

FUNDING

Via the Southern Ontario Women Entrepreneurs Initiative (SOWEI), we can help you find the most appropriate funding option or conditional contribution for your business start-up, expansion or development.

ELIGIBILITY

To be eligible, applicants must be:

  • Francophone or bilingual women of at least 18 years of age.
  • A non-profit organization, in particular:
    1. An individual operating a small or medium-sized enterprise (SME) that is francophone or bilingual
    2. Francophone/bilingual business partnerships (2 or more women entrepreneurs)
    3. Incorporated companies, corporations or cooperatives
    4. Indigenous organizations
    5. There must be an “active francophone offer” (i.e., products or services must be available in French at all times)
  • A business owned and/or run by francophone/bilingual women
  • A francophone or bilingual SME with up to 499 employees
  • Must be geographically located in Southern Ontario, as defined by the Government of Canada
  • Must be registered or incorporated
  • Must have been in operation for at least 1 year
  • Must be able to provide financial statements (prepared in-house) and a balance sheet (prepared in-house), as applicable.

The PRCDC acknowledges that numerous underrepresented groups face unique economic challenges and understands that their participation is the key to building strong and inclusive communities. This helps the PRCDC to offer inclusive programs designed to support all groups. Priority may be given to applicants who can demonstrate how they support the inclusive growth of the following groups:

 

Diverse women entrepreneurs, including women with disabilities, Indigenous women, black women entrepreneurs, women from rural regions, new immigrants, women who are members of visible minorities and women from minority official language communities.

 

Women entrepreneurs with projects seeking to seize foreign business opportunities (marketing).
